We are a vibrant secondary school in Lewisham seeking a dedicated Pastoral Assistant to provide exceptional support and guidance to our students. This role is integral to fostering a nurturing environment that enables our students to excel both academically and personally.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide daily pastoral care, maintaining regular communication with the Head of Year and leadership team.
  • Monitor student attendance and develop strategies to improve it, addressing persistent absences.
  • Support students with behavioural, anger, anxiety, and self-esteem issues, collaborating with their families.
  • Offer guidance to families in need, including signposting to external services.
  • Liaise with external agencies such as EWO, CAMHs, and Social Services.
  • Assist new students and families, ensuring they receive appropriate support.
  • Support and monitor student progress academically, including involvement in academic mentoring.
  • Address social and non-academic needs within target groups.
  • Attend meetings, assemblies, and parents' evenings, providing guidance to Year Group tutors.
  • Participate in behaviour management, including supervising Reflection and Inclusion rooms.
  • Promote equality and a positive culture in line with the Trust's values.
  • Foster collaborative relationships across the Trust and undertake additional duties as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths, or equivalent.
  • Child Safeguarding training is desirable.
  • At least one year of experience in a similar pastoral role.
  • Commitment to upholding high standards of ethics and behaviour.
  • Ability to treat all individuals with respect and uphold the school's values and statutory provisions.
