We are currently seeking a Supply Chain / Purchasing lead on behalf of our client, a leading global provider of specialty steels.

The Supply Chain / Purchasing Lead will play a vital role in a fast-paced business environment, ensuring timely procurement of materials from group mills and maintaining optimal stock levels to meet sales demand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize SAP to run MRP, managing reorder points for each part number. Ensure lead times from mills are current and safety stock profiles are updated.
  • Work closely with the sales team to understand customer forecasts and identify growth products not visible in MRP.
  • Place purchase orders with group mills, monitor delivery dates, and take necessary actions to ensure on time delivery from suppliers.
  • Build strong communication with mills and seek process improvements. Place orders and liaise with subcontract suppliers.

Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Excellent analytical skills to address and resolve issues effectively.
  • Driven by achieving results and maintaining efficient processes.
  • Resilient and flexible in a dynamic work environment.
  • Advanced understanding and experience with MRP systems and processes.
  • Strong computing skills, particularly in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Proficient in SAP for data management and order processing.
  • Strong mathematical skills and financial awareness.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Previous experience in a supply chain environment.
  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience.

  • Monday to Thursday 0800-1630 / Frduat 0830-1430
