Our client is a leading player in the manufacturing sector with a complex, matrix-style organisation that spans multiple regions and product lines. With an emphasis on innovation and operational excellence, the company is currently undergoing a period of transformation and growth, requiring an experienced Finance Director to step in and provide immediate support.

Role Overview:

We are seeking an Interim Finance Director with strong experience in manufacturing and matrix organisations to join the team during a critical period of transition. Reporting directly to the MD and working closely with cross-functional leadership, you will be responsible for driving financial strategy, optimising processes, and ensuring the company meets its financial objectives during this interim phase.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the finance function, including financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Provide strategic financial insights to support decision-making across multiple business units and geographic regions.
  • Partner with senior leadership to drive cost-efficiency initiatives and support profitability goals.
  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and capital expenditure processes to ensure healthy financial liquidity.
  • Lead the implementation of financial controls, compliance, and risk management initiatives in a dynamic, matrix environment.
  • Support and guide the finance team through operational improvements and process optimisation during the transition period.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to navigate complex interdependencies between business units and corporate functions.
  • Engage in M&A activities, if necessary, including financial due diligence and integration support.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven track record as a Finance Director or senior financial leader, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive experience working in a matrix organisation with complex reporting structures.
  • Strong understanding of financial management, cost control, and profitability analysis in manufacturing operations.
  • Expertise in financial planning, forecasting, and budget management across multiple business units.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and lead change in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with a collaborative approach to cross-functional engagement.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to mentor and develop finance teams.

Contract Details:

  • Duration: 6 months (potential for extension).
  • £800-1,000 per day (outside IR35)
  • Start Date: Immediate availability preferred.
