Think Accountancy and Finance are excited to be supporting a young, rapidly growing electrical wholesale business who are looking to hire their first Head of Finance/Finance Director for their High Wycombe office. This position requires someone who can bring all the accounts in house from the external accountants and help the business during its next period of growth.
They opened their doors in 2020 with a single location in Hemel Hempstead and have since grown to having 4 locations with the addition of their High Wycombe HQ branch (where this role will be based), North Finchley and Oxford.
Turnover is projected to just over £13million.
The finance team consists of 2 full time and 2 part time transactional staff. Their external accountants currently cover payroll, management accounts and year end accounts.
The business is ready to bring on board a hands-on commercial Number 1 in Finance. The position will work directly with the owner/MD of the business and help to focus on strategy for the business as well as bringing in house all outsourced work. There is plenty of opportunity to look at current processes and bring in a new accounting system.

The candidate would be responsible for:
- Strategic work with MD to build and grow the business
- Management of the back-office team
- Production of monthly management accounts
- Financial reporting
- Production of end of year accounts
- Transition to Group reporting
- Ensure that all financial statements, tax returns, and other financial documents are accurate and submitted on time.
- Manage HMRC submissions for PAYE and VAT.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, banks, and other financial institutions.
- Bringing Payroll in house
- Budgets and Forecasting
- Financial strategy
- Cashflow
- Analysis of potential expansion opportunities
- Management of customer credit
- Management of credit insurance
- Seeking opportunities to streamline the business and enhance profitability
Ideally, we are looking for a candidate who has worked within a wholesale business, perhaps within retail or distribution as well as experience in a high growth business. This is a number one role in Finance and is a newly created position, so the successful candidate needs to be able to manage the full cycle of accounts including management of transactional staff through to year end accounts.
There will be opportunity to get involved with other business ventures supporting the MD in future plans. They are looking for someone they can trust and someone who wants to be 100% invested in the business whilst offering sound commercial advice.
