We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Primary Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant SEND team at a special needs school in West Berkshire, with positions available in Newbury and Thatcham. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about education and skilled in behaviour management. Experience with SEMH (Social and Emotional Mental Health), Autism, and EBD is ideal, but we also welcome candidates from the care or mental health sectors with transferable skills.
You will be working with primary-aged students who genuinely appreciate the support of the staff, helping them make impressive progress in their educational journey.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of daily lessons, ensuring materials and resources are ready for class activities.
- Provide one-to-one support to students, aiding both their educational and personal development.
- Implement effective behaviour management strategies to maintain a conducive learning environment.
- Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress and identify any additional needs that may require further attention.
- Participate actively in school meetings and professional development training sessions.
- Uphold and support the school's policies and educational goals.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in an education setting, with a strong focus on supporting young learners with special needs.
- Demonstrated ability in effective behaviour management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with students and staff at all levels.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- A proactive approach to work and a strong commitment to enhancing student development.
- Must possess or be willing to obtain an enhanced DBS check.
