You will be working for a further education provider in Ambleside that is located in the most beautiful world heritage site! They have exciting and unique facilities on site, including a bouldering wall, impressive science labs, and an equipment hire department for hiking, mountaineering, sailing, kayaking, canoeing, and climbing.
Your new role
You will be working as part of the operational estates team. This is a varied and physically demanding role where you will ensure the site runs safe, secure and operates efficiently.
The primary role of Operational Estates is to complement and support the student experience through the provision of modern, safe and fit for purpose spaces. This role is based on-site due to the practical nature of the work.Your typical day may include performing minor repairs, compliance tasks and recordings, timely helpdesk responses and remedial actions. There may be some deliveries, installation or removal of furniture, equipment and materials and occasional cleaning and painting. You will carry out minor handyperson duties, such as moving and handling of furniture, equipment and materials across campus, removal of rubbish, cleaning of signage and outdoor spaces and general portage duties to maintain the look and feel of the campus.
Ambleside is a leafy campus; there may be light groundsperson duties, with cleaning of gullies and drains as per schedules. Given the geography, you will also be expected to assist with the gritting of the campus during the winter months, along with clearing snow and ice.
What you'll need to succeed
Ideally you will have previous experience working in a similar handyperson/ porter role, however this is not essential
What you'll get in return
35 hours per week
£20,948- £22,214
Very generous holiday entitlement! 43 days holiday including bank holidays- these can be taken throughout the year in or out of term time
