Healthcare Assistant - Mental HC (Stevenage Area)

A leading client of ours based in the mental health space are looking to recruit a number of Healthcare Assistants as part of their growing team.

Hub Base - Stevenage (must be willing to drive and cover a 50 mile radius travel to client hospitals and clinics

Hours - Full time - 37.5 hours per week with increased rate for overtime.

(There are permanent and zero hour contracts available however this will not be self employed)

Rates -

£15.50/hour (Weekdays)

£17.50/hour (Weekday Nights and Weekends)

Suitable candidates will have a worked as a Health Care Assistant in primary care and in mental health.

  • Drive ambulances as and when required.
  • Assist the qualified nurse in safely conveying and transferring all patients.
  • Ensure they have adequate handover of the patient's details, including risk history and current presentation, from the Clinical Logistics Manager, RMN or nurse responsible for the patient at the collection address.
  • In the absence of an RMN, when a patient is informal, you must complete all paperwork required for the transfer.
  • To provide crisis intervention to patients experiencing mental health difficulties during a transfer.
  • To respond to emergencies during their span of duty.
  • The post holder is responsible for being aware of relevant national and local policies regarding safeguarding children and adults.
  • Attend all relevant training, meetings and reviews.
  • To ensure by attitude, approach and response the continuation of good working relationships between staff and patients throughout the transfer.
  • To report accidents, complaints and any untoward incidents promptly to the Clinical Logistics Manager.
  • Attend the base at the required time by the Clinical Logistic Manager and adhere to the company's uniform policy.

Experience:

  • Previous experience working as a Health Care Assistant in primary care and in mental health.
  • Act honestly and with integrity and demonstrate a caring and patient-centred approach.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on accuracy.

Desirable:

  • Healthcare related NVQ, BTEC or equivalent at Level 3 National Care Certificate
  • Experience of working within a nursing team and dealing with vulnerable patients.
