Purpose of the role
What does a Business Product Owner do?
As a business product owner, you will represent the customer to our technology partners and internal IT and systems architecture teams.
Responsibilities
- Capture customer and business requirements for solutions
- Prioritise requirements to ensure successful delivery
- Manage, assess, and approve the product backlog
- Present product backlog in team meetings
- Mitigate and resolve any conflicts to achieving sprint/release goals
- Translate customer need into user stories that can be actioned by our technology partners and colleagues,
- Align to our business goals and its systems architecture strategy.
- Represent the customer to the development team ensuring that the customer voice is present
- Share knowledge internally and externally and be the first point of contact for answering questions
What skills, qualifications and qualities do I need to be successful?
- Experience in agile methodology and ability to translate customer needs into user stories.
- Proven experience in product development (minimum 5+ years).
- In-depth knowledge of agile methodology for project management.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively manage conflicting needs of stakeholders.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage a team (minimum 3+ years).
- Ability to manage requests and priorities, as well as setting and delivering to realistic deadlines.
- Excellent organisational skills with proven ability to manage competing priorities and a challenging workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to understand structures and business priorities and build credibility quickly.
- Resilient and solution-focused.
- Must be a team player with strong collaboration skills and a demonstrated ability to lead effectively across functions.
How you'll work
Hybrid working; a blend of home and office working 2/3 days in the office and 2/3 days at home.
