We have a fantastic opportunity for Two Neighbourhood Care Operatives at Bolton Council. This is a full-time temporary role for the next 1 - 2 months, with the possibility of extension.
What is the role?
Bolton Council are looking for Two Neighbourhood Care Operatives to provide and maintain a clean and healthy environment within a specific neighbourhood area within the borough. Assist in all aspects of Street Cleansing and Grounds Maintenance work.
What are your responsibilities?
- To manually sweep and collect litter and detritus from the highway and open spaces shrub areas.
- Remove fly tipping and sharps.
- Manual and mechanical removal of animal faeces from highway.
- Remove accident debris and dead animals from highway.
- Empty and clean dog and litter bins.
- Undertake Grounds Maintenance duties including shrub and flower bed maintenance, shrub bed pruning, hedge cutting and pedestrian and ride on grass cutting and edging off of associated grassed areas.
- To undertake pedestrian sweeping.
- Manually remove graffiti.
- To undertake leaf clearance by manually sweeping.
- Undertake water course checking.
- Ensure playground areas are maintained and street furniture is maintained and painted when required.
- Provide such assistance as may be required to all customers to enable the smooth operation of the service and show a professional approach and image to minimise complaints.
- Completion of worksheet.
- Winter gritting of footpath areas.
- Driving duties associated with the above-mentioned duties.
What skills do you Need?
- Must have previous Neighbourhood Care Operative / Gardening experience.
- Excellent people skills, as you will be speaking to the public, and other members of staff including managers.
- Must be physically fit and healthy, as you will be required to lift heavy items and will be working outside
- Full UK Driving Licence, up to 3.5 Tonne, however it would be useful if you have a 7.5 Tonne with CPC
- Working Hours are Monday to Friday 7.30am – 15.30pm
- You will be based at the Mayor Street Depot in Ellesmere Street, Bolton
