Graduate Teaching Assistant Roles - Special Needs

At Career Teachers we are currently recruiting for a specialist SEN school in Leeds who require additional teaching assistants to join their team from September 2024.

This would be the ideal role for a graduate who is looking to begin a career in special education!

As a Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for:

  • Creating a calm and positive environment for learning, ensuring that all childrens voices are heard
  • Working collaboratively with the class teacher and other teaching assistants to make sure that the work day runs smoothly
  • Your main responsibility will be to engage the students in learning, ensuring that they have access to the lesson at hand using resources provided.
  • Each child will have very different learning methods and ways of accessing learning, therefore you will be responsible for adapting the learning where needed.
  • Supporting students emotionally as well academically throughout the school day.
  • Managing challenging behaviours and de-escalating situations.

The school caters for students of all ages, ranging from Early Years up to 16+ who have special educational needs, all students have a diagnosis of Autism as well as other needs. The ideal candidate will have some background or knowledge of supporting children and young people with SEND.
