Senior Project Manager

About the role This is an exciting time to join the People and Organisational Effectiveness Directorate and it's a great time to think about the next step of your career, so are you ready to take on a pivotal role in ensuring safety in healthcare?

We are looking to recruit a Senior Project Manager to plan and manage strategic projects within the organisation's Delivery Portfolio. Then appointee will be required to demonstrate common standards and ways of working based on project management methodology to implement appropriate and proportionate controls, rigour and governance.

Utilising effective and efficient planning and co-ordination of resources to ensure project delivery to time, cost and quality and to contribute to the achievement of organisational vision and strategic aims.

You will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring that specified projects are managed effectively and efficiently throughout the project lifecycle to deliver on time, within agreed budgets and to NMC standards, to meet business requirements and quality expectations.
  • Ensuring project benefits are articulated, tracked and reported through to realisation
  • Ensuring budget and resources are committed by relevant managers (including third parties) and project teams are matrix managed to deliver projects according to plan
  • Monitoring performance against plans and taking effective corrective action if required; report on project progress to project sponsors and governance boards as appropriate
  • Ensuring that all relevant external and internal stakeholders are engaged and communicated with throughout the key stages of the project.
  • Ensuring that risks and issues are identified, recorded, assessed and managed appropriately and escalated where required.

About you

You will have experience of :

  • Leading on projects on transformational change with a focus on people and vision will be an added advantage.
  • Developing, preparing and presenting plans and reports to a wide variety of stakeholders at all levels
  • Setting up, monitoring and tracking appropriate, proportionate projects controls and governance
  • Managing risks and issues in a project setting
  • Working with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Working in a fast paced environment

Our core role is to regulate. First, we promote high education and professional standards for nurses and midwives across the UK, and nursing associates in England. Second, we maintain the register of professionals eligible to practise. Third, we investigate concerns about nurses, midwives and nursing associates - something that affects a tiny minority of professionals each year. Successful candidates will be appointed to a particular NMC Office, but you may be required to travel to other NMC locations, that are reasonable daily commute from your home office.

Our Pay Policy
It is expected that staff new to the NMC will ordinarily be appointed to the bottom of the relevant pay band. However in exceptional circumstances, it may be possible to offer a salary above the bottom of the relevant pay band but we may request proof of current earnings. Please note that we offer an annual review of salaries and adopt a generous progressive pay approach. Further details of which are available on request.
