My client is an extremely well-established freight forwarder and Liner Agent provider specialising in RORO, Flat Rack & Container shipping, operating globally across land, air and sea freight movements and due to growth, we are delighted to support in their search for an experienced Freight Forwarder to join their successful team at their site near Holburn.

You will be responsible to develop and manage your own customer base, manage the day-to-day aspects of freight forwarding, dealing with customs, shipping firms, customers and overall ensuring a seamless operation from initial enquiry through to final delivery, within a vibrant & busy environment ensuring all targets are met and customer expectations delivered.

Hours: Monday-Friday 09:00 -17:00

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop own customer base.
  • Price, quote, negotiate and organise freight movements with a vast contact base of subcontractors.
  • Timely complete and respond to all customer queries surrounding transport solutions.
  • Complete shipping documentation, such as bills of lading, packing lists, dock receipts, certificates of origin and customs clearance.
  • Consolidate loads with a common destination to reduce costs to individual shippers.
  • Arranging Haulage - collection & delivery.
  • Providing Marine Insurance services including certificate.
  • Preparing export docs (BLs) and doing export entries.
  • Executing VGMs.
  • Booking LCL and FCL suppliers and knowing the steps involved.
  • Completing import customs clearances.
  • Pricing negotiation.
  • Booking export & import containers with shipping lines / ports.
  • Keep revenue and accruals in each job updated – live system.
  • Ensure solid cost control through the arrangement of transport solutions at the low rate,

without compromising upon quality and maintaining a target margin on all business.

  • Responsibility of own debtors list, working with account to resolve any invoicing issues.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation, political situations, or other factors that could affect freight shipping.

Key Skills:

  • Experience of Freight Forwarding for 3 years.
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to speak at all levels.
  • Excellent knowledge of freight sales and customs operations.
  • Understanding of hauliers and trade lanes.
  • Organisation and prioritisation skills.
