About the Role:
Career Teachers is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and dynamic team at a special school in Leeds. This full-time role begins in September 2024 and is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with autism. The position offers the possibility of transitioning to a permanent role with the school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to children with autism, facilitating their learning and development.
- Work closely with teachers and specialists to implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Assist in managing classroom behaviour and promoting social interactions.
- Support students with personal care tasks, if necessary.
- Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers about student progress.
- Collaborate with the school team to ensure a holistic approach to student well-being.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience working with children with autism or in a special educational needs (SEN) setting is highly desirable.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with special needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
- Willingness to undergo necessary background checks.
