About the Role:

Career Teachers is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and dynamic team at a special school in Leeds. This full-time role begins in September 2024 and is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with autism. The position offers the possibility of transitioning to a permanent role with the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to children with autism, facilitating their learning and development.
  • Work closely with teachers and specialists to implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Assist in managing classroom behaviour and promoting social interactions.
  • Support students with personal care tasks, if necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers about student progress.
  • Collaborate with the school team to ensure a holistic approach to student well-being.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience working with children with autism or in a special educational needs (SEN) setting is highly desirable.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with special needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Willingness to undergo necessary background checks.
