Hardware-in-Loop (HIL) Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Automotive Hardware-in-Loop (HIL) Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing HIL simulation systems to validate and verify automotive control systems. This role involves close collaboration with software, hardware, and test engineers to ensure the highest quality and performance of automotive systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development:

  • Develop and implement HIL systems to simulate automotive control systems, including powertrain, chassis, ADAS, and other vehicle components.

  • Design test plans and scenarios to validate and verify control algorithms and system performance.

  • Simulation and Testing:

  • Create and maintain simulation models and environments to represent vehicle dynamics and component interactions.

  • Conduct HIL simulations and analyze results to identify and resolve issues in control algorithms and system designs.

  • Automate HIL test cases and integrate them into continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

  • Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with software, hardware, and systems engineering teams to develop comprehensive testing strategies and ensure seamless integration of HIL systems.

  • Collaborate with validation teams to interpret test results and refine system designs.

  • Document and present findings, test results, and recommendations to stakeholders.

  • Maintenance and Support:

  • Maintain and upgrade HIL systems to accommodate new vehicle models and control systems.

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for HIL systems and simulations.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Experience:

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing HIL systems for automotive applications.

  • Strong background in automotive control systems, including powertrain, chassis, and ADAS.

  • Hands-on experience with simulation tools such as dSPACE, National Instruments, or similar platforms.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, and Python.

  • Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics and control theory.

  • Experience with automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet).

  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and practices.

  • Soft Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Knowledge of functional safety standards (ISO 26262).
  • Familiarity with model-based design and development processes.

  • Office environment with occasional travel to test facilities and partner sites.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet project deadlines.
