We are seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Officer to oversee and advise on all health and safety matters within our manufacturing and warehouse facility. Reporting directly to the Directors, this role is crucial in maintaining our commitment to a safe working environment.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Conduct regular checks and inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Stay informed on health and safety legislation, including DSEAR, and advise the team accordingly.
  • Organise and arrange necessary training for staff, such as First Aid, Fire Marshall, and Manual Handling.
  • Lead regular Health & Safety meetings to discuss updates and continuous improvement strategies.
  • Manage the control of contractors, ensuring all Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) are in place.
  • Investigate and report on any accidents or incidents, identifying root causes and implementing preventive measures.
  • Maintain up-to-date COSHH records and ensure safe handling and storage of substances.
  • Conduct regular fire drills and ensure all fire safety protocols are adhered to.
  • Review and maintain company health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Issue permits to work for high-risk activities and ensure compliance.
  • Carry out comprehensive risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate identified risks.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Health & Safety Officer within a manufacturing and/or warehouse environment.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices, including DSEAR.
  • Ability to conduct training sessions and effectively communicate health and safety principles to a diverse workforce.
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments, accident investigations, and maintaining health and safety records.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
