Assistant Accountant

Reed Finance are working with a well-respected organisation based in central Aberdeen seeking a dedicated Assistant Accountant to join their dynamic team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in accounting, who is enthusiastic about financial management and analysis. The successful candidate will assist with month-end management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, and various other financial tasks.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Assist with the preparation of month-end management accounts and ensure timely completion.
- Conduct monthly preparation and review of Balance Sheet reconciliations.
- Review costs against budgets and forecasts, assisting with variance reporting to explain discrepancies and unexpected costs.
- Cash flow forecasts.
- Analyse cash movements and assist with cash forecasting.
- Manage stock counts, process stock adjustments, and investigate anomalies.
- Input data into various reporting packages, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Support the annual budget
- Assist with the annual audit process and the development of other Finance staff.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to resolve queries and seek necessary authorisations.
- Support ad hoc Finance projects and provide holiday cover for team tasks.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 3 years + of accounting experience in a similar role
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Qualified by experience, part-qualified or fully qualified candidates considered.
- Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at various levels and work proactively both independently and as part of a team.
