Macildowie are delighted to be working with a large Public Sector organisation in the Midlands to recruit a Financial Accountant to work on a remote basis.
Reporting into the Head of Finance, you will be responsible for the production of the financial and statutory accounts pack, tax and compliance and other regulatory returns.
Supervising a very small team, you will support the business in the provision of insightful financial information and your duties will include, but not limited to;
- Lead the preparation of quarterly returns and the annual statutory accounts (Year End), including audit papers and schedules, for review by the Head of Finance.
- Oversee the production of monthly tax returns, annual VAT partial exemption calculations, and corporation tax returns
- Support the daily delivery of operational financial transactions, ensuring timeliness and quality, including the approval of reconciliations and control accounts prepared by the team.
- Lead the maintenance and improvement of the internal control assurance framework, including financial and standing order regulations, ensuring all internal audit recommendations are addressed on time and to the agreed standard.
- Assist the Head of Finance in ensuring all financial accounting policies and procedures are legally compliant and reflect best practices.
- Manage ad-hoc banking transactions in line with organisational policies and customer requirements.
- Manage finance systems applications, representing the group both internally and externally.
- Act as deputy for the Head of Finance when required.
The successful candidate will be a qualified finance professional (ACCA, ACA, CIMA OR CIPFA) and keen to secure a challenging, technically-focused role in a large and growing organisation. You will be able to lead and motivate a small team whilst providing accurate and timely financial information to support the objectives.
