Posted by Hendron Pearce Ltd.

Residential Building Surveyor

Our client is a is a highly respected and trusted independent building surveying consultancy. They are a firm of professionals: all their surveyors are members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and their engineers are members of the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) or Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). Regulation by the RICS means that they uphold exceptional surveying standards, with their team members undertaking regular professional training and development.

Due to exciting growth plans they are now seeking a Residential Building Surveyor to join their team in Milton Keynes.

The ideal Residential Building Surveyor will be either (chartered or AssocRICS) specialising in Level 2 and 3 homebuyer reports, structural/defect inspections and party wall - the role will be remote, but will cover the Milton Keynes and surrounding areas.

Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Building Surveyor in Milton Keynes or nearby areas to carry out Level 3 and Level 2 home surveys and other related works for a variety of residential clients.

The role

With a varied housing stock, ranging from the newer builds in the modern Milton Keynes settlement, to period and listed properties in the surrounding areas, this is a great place to be a residential building surveyor.

The patch will be tailored to where you live, so this role would be suitable for surveyors in Milton Keynes itself, or areas such as Northampton, Buckingham or Luton.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a role where they can have more control over their work and what they do. As an independent company, they have the flexibility to shape the job according to what you are looking for. If you want to get involved in growing the business and liaising with clients, then they can facilitate that. If an excellent work-life balance is your priority, then the role is ideal - their surveyors often schedule surveys to allow them to do school drop-offs/avoid rush-hour etc.

There could even be a possibility of progressing to partnership, for the right person and apart from the site visits the role is home-working, with no timesheets.

The person

The ideal candidate will be an RICS chartered building surveyor (although we would consider experienced AssocRICS surveyors) and be confident in carrying out residential building surveys. You must have an eye for detail and a thorough understanding of building defects, maintenance and repairs.

You will need to have experience of:

  • RICS residential building surveys
  • a wide range of structural and building defects
  • preparing and presenting comprehensive, accurate survey reports
  • providing clear, concise, justified conclusions
  • working independently and within a team structure
  • liaising with clients, both verbally and through written correspondence
  • A full UK driving licence is required.
  • Three days on the road per week - normally 8 to 9 surveys a week - not a lot really! Super flexible with hours too.

What they offer

A diverse role with excellent opportunities for career progression: partnership is a possibility for the right person. A supportive network of in-house professionals and admin staff.

Flexible and generous packages to suit you.

These typically include (but are not limited to):

  • health and life insurance
  • flexible working and working from home
  • 25+ days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • car allowance
  • payment of professional subscriptions and support with CPD
  • provision of all engineering and home office equipment
  • pension contribution
  • enhanced parental leave
