Group Strategic Analytics is part of Group Chief Operation Office (COO) which acts as the bridge between the Bank's businesses and infrastructure functions to help deliver the efficiency, control, and transformation goals of the Bank.
You will be joining the Platform Strats team within Group Strategic Analytics (GSA), analysing, building and delivering applications to solve quantitative and/or front-to-back problems. You will be in a cross-functional team building functionality on the strategic cross-business Risk and Profit & Loss (P&L) platform and, to a lesser extent, supporting change on the legacy tech stack.
You will develop in Python focusing on one or more of the following, Risk and P&L generation and integration of results with platforms across the Bank through Google Cloud and other technologies, automated controls functionality (ensuring the system has a full and complete set of valuation data for use in trading and regulatory processes), and/or tools to improve operational processes for Finance, Model Risk Management (MRM), Operations and Strats.

Your key responsibilities
- Working in a cross-functional agile team focused on delivering robust, reliable and performant solutions
- Analysing problems and architecting/ designing solutions to build new components and evolve existing components and functionality using Python
- Communicating with stakeholders (Strats Team, Trading, MRM, Finance) to understand their requirements
- Maintaining the system in production including through joining the support rota
- Participating in product delivery process alignment and improvement
Your skills and experience
- Educated to University degree level or equivalent qualification/work experience, in an appropriate computer science or engineering/ scientific subject
- Strong experience of server-side development in Python, including multi-threading
- Experienced developing front-office banking applications
- Understanding of derivatives products, risk and P&L and market data
- Relevant knowledge of technologies including Python, Google Cloud (GCP), PostgreSQL, MariaDB, Oracle Database, Kafka, Redis, C++
- Knowledge of PyCharm, Git, BitBucket, JIRA, Confluence, Grafana, Oracle SQL Developer, Microsoft Visual Studio (MSVS) 2019
