The Fire and Rescue Service in Nottinghamshire have an opportunity for an experienced professional to join their team as their new Head of Digital.

  • Full time, Monday – Friday (37 hours per week)

  • Salary Grade 9: £54,679 - £60,182 per annum

Working within the ICT Department, this post will be responsible for leading the ICT function. The successful post holder will advise the Strategic Leadership Team on opportunities for digital innovation to drive business improvements within the service.

Reporting to the Area Manager for Assets and Resources, the postholder will have responsibility for the direct enhancement and exploitation of ICT and Digital technologies through the innovation, investigation, analysis, and transformation of data, systems, activities, processes, and information security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure efficient ICT service delivery, including the delivery of an effective service desk and ensuring that staff are trained and developed.
  • Oversee governance and control for ICT project management and maintain stable, secure and cost-effective ICT infrastructure.
  • Manage ICT budgets and ensure the best value from suppliers, contractors, and consultants.
  • Maintain and monitor critical ICT infrastructure to support Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Management.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes in ICT and Information Security and advise on implications.
  • Provide ICT and information security advice to the Strategic Leadership Team.
  • Maintain awareness of opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Experience managing all aspects of a technically diverse ICT function, including staff recruitment, management, and development.
  • Experience in delivering complex ICT Transformation programs and experience in developing and implementing ICT policies and procedures.
  • Skilled at tendering and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • High-level communication skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders and service users.
  • In-depth knowledge of current IT-related legislation, security policies, and any current developments in the ICT field.
  • Degree level or equivalent qualification (or experience) in an ICT discipline.
  • Be willing to travel around the county.
