Title: Working M&E Supervisor
Department: Operations
Responsible For: Reactive/PPM Maintenance
Location: Southampton

Salary: Up to £45k

Purpose

The M&E Supervisor role is to provide a prompt and efficient service that fully supports our customers' needs as part of the facilities team. This position involves collaborating and cooperating with other engineers and the Help Desk, supporting compliance and efficiency on the contract, and following up as required to ensure customer satisfaction. The role also entails working closely with all members of the team to provide a proactive and focused approach, efficiently meeting and advancing the business needs.

Main Duties

  • Work 5 days a week onsite at Southampton (hours to be confirmed).
  • UK-based with flexible travel to other sites.
  • Participate in the callout rota for the site.
  • Communicate and work effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Spend a proportion of time carrying out PPM/reactive works.
  • Supervise planned and reactive maintenance works activities, action works orders effectively, and maintain good control of documentation.
  • Conform to safety rules and apply good engineering and safety practices to safeguard personal and others' safety.
  • Ensure risk and method statements are provided prior to commencement of works.
  • Maintain correct stocks of critical spares and PPM requirements.
  • Engage contractors where required for callouts and servicing requirements.
  • Supervise engineers' working times, specifically start, finish, and break times.
  • Allocate daily work to engineers, ensuring correct materials are available for task completion.
  • Provide onsite support and inspection of engineers' work to ensure quality and effectiveness of repairs.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of manpower within the M&E group.
  • Maintain WIP report ensuring regular contact with engineers for timely completion of outstanding works.
  • Manage direct reports' holidays to ensure minimum site presence, keeping the Tech Ops Manager informed.
  • Conduct health and safety observations as requested.
  • Provide required reports on team performance.
  • Liaise with minor new works teams to identify works required.
  • Provide first-line response to all BMS alarms for Southampton.
  • Record and follow up on absences from the site with return-to-work interviews.
  • Ensure compliance with quality systems regarding change control and SOPs.
  • Assist and be involved in continuous improvement programs.
  • Communicate effectively with a flexible approach to work patterns.
  • Identify assets and systems for reliability issues and age.

Person Specification

Essential Training & Qualifications:

  • Relevant trade qualification in one or more of the following: electrical, engineering and maintenance, heating and ventilation, or mechanical installation.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems in an office environment.
  • Knowledge of pressurisation systems.

Desirable Training & Qualifications:

  • Good building fabric awareness.
  • F-Gas qualification.
  • City and Guilds 2391 testing and inspection.

Essential Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of previous experience in a similar role.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience of working with Trend BMS.

Essential Knowledge & Skills:

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety at work regulations.
  • Knowledge of best practices in issuing work permits, completing relevant method statements, and risk assessments.
  • Demonstrable excellent customer service skills.

Desirable Knowledge & Skills:

  • Ability to seek out, manage, and influence opportunities for continuous improvement and change.

Other Essential Qualities:

  • Ability to liaise with employees and customers at all levels.
  • Personally effective with excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and plan time effectively.
