Purpose of the role:

  • To manage the Hospitality Catering Function, consistently delivering a high quality, efficient Hospitality service that meets or exceeds client, customer and Compass objectives.To build client relationships and instil trust in all aspects of the function.To assist other catering departments as requested.To deliver great service in line within all Company policies, procedures and guidelines.

Key accountabilities:

  • Understand and deliver all contractual termsAct as first point on contact for all hospitality bookings.Communicate regularly with client (as per agreed Service level agreement)Implement and maintain a customer feedback process. Reporting monthly to unit manager.Action plans are completed following client satisfaction surveys and client feedbackDemonstrates knowledge of food and beverage operations with a focus on innovation, standards and market awarenessPromote the unit and act as a Compass Advocate at all timeIdentify any additional opportunities and discuss with line managerAction plans are completed following consumers satisfaction surveysEnsure all client hospitality is delivered in line with the expectationsEnsure staff uniforms are well presented.Ensure employees consistently demonstrate customer care, selling techniques, merchandising skills and knowledge of menuManage the Hospitality booking system – Bluerunner.Ensure item costs on BR are kept up to date in line with FBOLEnsure nominal food costs are agreed with the client annually ( minimum) Analyse and manage effectively all in unit costs.Ensure accurate and timely monthly Client Issues reportsEnsure cost records are accurately inputted and maintained All food / equipment ordering is done via FBOL All food wastage is recorded and minimisedEnsure all customer requirements are communicated to all departments in advance to ensure effective planningOperate secure stock ordering, receipt, issues and control systemsManage all equipment hire processesComplete labour schedule within the labour budgetEffectively minimise any agency and overtime spendAdjust labour schedule in line with sales/budgetsAnalyse and manage effectively all in unit costsEnsure budgets are understood and achieved Ensure all costs are managed effectively within budgetEnsure secure financial control and cash handling procedures

Person specification:

  • A sound background within hospitality or contract catering ( ideally within education sector ) is an advantage, as is excellent food and health and safety awareness. In this role there is a need for strong people management skills and excellent communication, with the flexibility to adapt style depending on the audience and circumstances. There is also responsibility for coaching and training the team in order to ensure that all employees have the appropriate skills to deliver an excellent service. There is a focus and need for the management of budgets and labour costs Therefore, commercial awareness is essential as is the ability to hold others accountable and think strategically.In this role there is a high level of responsibility and focus on ensuring that we are delivering a great service to our clients and customers. A strong customer service background and ethos is therefore vital.

  • GCSE or equivalent in English and MathsOperational Management experience in Hospitality or Contract CateringComputer literateStrong communication skillsStrong organisational skillsAbility to work to strict pressured deadlinesAble to communicate at all levels

Desirable:

  • HND/Degree in ManagementFinancial acumen Industry aware Assertive, calm and works well under pressureDriving license
