ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT – Newry
SALARY: £25,000 – £27,000
EMPLOYMENT: 12-month fixed-term contract, 4-days (condensed hours), office-based
Reed Accountancy is partnered with an established manufacturing client in Newry in the appointment of an Accounts Assistant to join their team on 12-month fixed-term basis.
The successful Accounts Assistant will be a key player in the finance team, delivering professional and efficient support to the finance function. This role involves full ownership of the Purchase Ledger, managing payments and expenses through the receipt, processing, verification, and reconciliation of invoices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Posting a high volume of invoices and matching them to the PO number.
- Checking for and investigating discrepancies.
- Preparing payment runs & allocating payments.
- Liaise with other departments to resolve any queries that may arise.
- Reconciling supplier accounts to statements.
- Assisting with month-end duties.
- Bank Reconciliations
What you'll need to succeed:
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office packages with particular emphasis on Excel
- Excellent analytical skills, with strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral
- Proven ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision and being able to prioritise workload
- An enthusiastic, proactive approach to work, with a positive "can do" attitude, capable of delivering results within tight deadlines
- A positive attitude towards teamwork, ownership, accountability and leadership
- Previous experience of using an ERP System
