Hours of work

37.5 hours per week (hours of work will be flexible and dictated by the needs of the business, therefore it is expected that the successful applicant will work those hours necessary to successfully discharge the duties of the role).

The role

Overview

The successful candidate will have a broad range of experience across all aspects of transactional finance and be responsible for the performance of various accounting duties to tight deadlines and at a high standard.

Key Outputs

  • Entering sales ledger, cash book and purchase ledger transactions on to the Sage 200 accounts system for all companies across the group.
  • Raising fixed fee and recharge invoices within agreed deadlines.
  • Ensuring purchase orders are in place for all purchases and that the correct processes are adhered to.
  • Completion of bank and supplier statement reconciliations.
  • Monitoring and managing cash flow reports and forecasts, including processing the payments of suppliers and staff expenses in a timely fashion across the group.
  • Allocation of sales receipts on to the ledger, including investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Raising aged debt reports, analyse and provide commentary.
  • Ensuring complete and accurate filing and archiving of accounts records.
  • Attending regular review meetings with the transactional finance and financial reporting teams.
  • Ensuring current finance processes are adhered to, reviewing and looking at potential improvements to those processes.
  • Any other ad hoc duties as required

The person

Overview

A presentable and highly organised individual, with a keen attention to detail and a methodical approach to their work. An effective communicator, able to deal with colleagues, clients, third party lenders, solicitors and suppliers in a professional and confident manner. The successful candidate will have experience of working in a fast paced, busy finance department with the ability to prioritise and work to strict deadlines.

Skills and knowledge

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Experience of accounting software, in particular Sage 200 would be desirable.
  • Experience working in a busy finance team.
  • Experience of working under pressure to deliver against a range of issues and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Experience of working in a Financial Services business would be preferable, but not essential.

Qualifications

  • Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent) including mathematics and English
