What you'll need to succeed

Position summary:

The Operations Manager oversees the technology infrastructure and operational processes of the bank.They will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the IT team, ensuring the availability and reliability of systems and infrastructure, managing technology vendors, and implementing new technologies and processes to improve efficiency and productivity. They must also ensure that the organisation's IT policies and procedures are up-to-date and compliant with industry standards and regulations.

Key responsibilities:

- Overseeing the daily operations of the IT department and ensuring that systems and infrastructure are running smoothly.?
- Developing and implementing policies, procedures, and processes to improve IT operations and increase efficiency and productivity.?
- Managing technology vendors and service providers to meet the organisation's technology needs.?
- Evaluating and implementing new technologies and systems that improve IT infrastructure and support business requirements.?
- Leading a team of IT operators and providing guidance and support to ensure they meet their goals and objectives.?
- Maintaining a solid understanding of the organisation's business needs and working closely with other departments to ensure that IT is aligned with those needs.?
- Ensuring the organisation's IT policies and procedures are up-to-date and compliant with industry standards and regulations.
- Managing IT projects, including monitoring timelines, preparing documentation, communicating with users and providing updates to the management.
- Keeping up to date with IT industry trends and developments.
- Assess system performance and recommend improvements.
- Manage support and guidance for users via the helpdesk.
Competence and skill requirements:
- Proven experience as an IT Operations Manager or similar position in the financial sector.
- Proven experience managing teams in UK banks or financial institutions.
- Experience administering and supporting online, mission-critical systems.
- Experience managing several concurrent activities and prioritising demands.
- Experience dealing with end-user requests and managing quality expectations.
- Solid understanding of UK financial systems (clearing, payments, reporting, ...) and regulations.
- Experience with system installation, configuration and analysis.

  • Understanding of networks and cloud computing.?
  • Strong leadership skills to effectively manage the IT team.?
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with vendors, team members, senior management, and business users.?
  • Technical proficiency and knowledge of IT infrastructure, networks, and systems to effectively manage and troubleshoot issues.
  • Knowledge of IT solutions for helpdesk, inventory and change management
  • Knowledge of IT solutions for security control, vulnerability scanning and patch management.
  • Knowledge of Windows 11, Windows Server, M365, RHEL Linux and VMware principles.
  • Understanding of SQL database technology, data interfaces and processing.
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple projects.
  • Positive and problem-solving attitude.
