Interim Consultant / Head of FP&A

Our client is a leading PE backed professional services consultancy group. They have grown both organically and via a number of acquisitions and are highly profitable, as such the decision has been made to embark on an exit. The CFO has a talented finance team and a newly created requirement for an FP&A lead to support the business and planned exit. Whilst this would be a permanent requirement, due to the planned transaction, they are looking to hire on an interim basis - with the intention it would become permanent should the situation allow.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the FP&A function, overseeing budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis to support strategic decision making and drive business performance
  • Manage and develop the budgeting process for P&L, balance sheet and cashflow
  • Prepare and present financial reports, highlighting key trends, opportunities and risks to senior management and investors
  • Strategic Decision Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial guidance and analysis
  • Business Partnering: Partner with department heads and business leaders to understand their financial needs, provide insightful analysis, and support decision-making.
  • Preparation of monthly board packs and KPIs
  • Production of information required by the investor as part of their portfolio reporting obligations
  • Ad hoc projects and supporting data requests and DD requirements
  • There is a short term need to support the current audit, particularly key given the planned transaction to ensure all audit points are addressed

Key requirements for the role:

  • Graduate level education with demonstrable academic success
  • Professionally qualified UK Accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA)
  • FP&A management experience
  • Ideally professional services experience, in particular time sheets & billing
  • Commercially driven utilises technical, personal and organisational skills to manage costs, revenue, and profit.
  • Strong business acumen - able to assess potential opportunities and risks.
  • Engaging and confident, able to build and maintain relationships with C-suite and department heads.
