Paralegal Private Client - Wills and Probate

My client is a multi-disciplined professional services company which includes Chartered Accountants, Tax Advisers, Financial Planners and Legal professionals working across eight offices in Sheffield, Chesterfield, Rotherham, Wakefield, Leeds, Harrogate, Huddersfield and Buxton.

This is an exciting full-time opportunity to join an expanding practice who are looking to strengthen their existing Wills and Probate team by recruiting a confident, professional and dedicated Paralegal.

Job Description

The Private Client Paralegal will need to have a strong working understanding of Wills and LPAs, a confident proactive approach to their work, excellent communication skills and must be confident meeting with and advising clients both within an office environment across the group and occasionally at a client's own home.

Additionally, a foundation level understanding of Grant applications, Estate administration and Inheritance tax would be ideal. The role will involve a varied mix of client focused fee earning tasks such as drafting and preparing documents. The Private Client Paralegal may from time to time be given reasonable ad-hoc jobs from the Legal Executive/Head of Wills & Probate.

The Successful Candidate

A suitable candidate would have at least 2 years experience fee earning and working within a private client team/department. The Private Client Paralegal must be competent working under pressure, to deadlines, with little supervision and happy to travel across the offices within the group primarily focused in South Yorkshire.

The position would suit an individual who is a keen team player, who is prepared to help out by covering some of the jobs assigned to other members of the Wills & Probate team from time to time, or in their absence.

Experience:

  • Meeting with clients face to face and communicating with them over the phone
  • Preparing documents and correspondence for clients
  • Drafting LPAs, Wills (including Will trusts) and Severance documents
  • Case load management
  • Processing Wills & LPAs throughout all stages including signing
  • Assisting with the preparation of Grant Applications and Administration of estates
  • Working with legal assistants to aid their fee earning work
  • Keeping detailed file notes/client instructions
  • Undertake general administrative duties associated with the fee earning work
  • Using a high degree of self-management and initiative
  • Ensuring the confidentiality of all the firm's and client's documentation and information
  • Responding to emails/call-back requests in a reasonable timeframe
  • High level of attention to detail
