Location - London with Hybrid working

Salary - £47,745 - £53,934 DOE (and London weighting) pro rata

Full-Time

Fixed Term till the end of December 2024

Our client is a union with a membership of over half a million healthcare professionals and students. They support their practice, represent them, lobby on their behalf, and develop them. Responsibilities for the role of People Policy and Projects Partner

  • Actively review, develop, implement and evaluate a range of employment policies and procedures ensuring best practice
  • Act as an organisational resource about employment policy and practice, ensuring the organisation is kept up to date and responds to changes in employment legislation and practice
  • Undertake appropriate research to ensure that employment policies and procedures are benchmarked against other organisations to ensure appropriate standards are maintained; where possible, develop employment policies and practices that are innovative and ground-breaking to which other organisations can aspire
  • Where appropriate and working with L&OD colleagues where relevant, develop and deliver training materials, tools and templates to support managers and staff in using and engaging with people policies, practices and initiatives
  • Map, analyse, review and streamline end-to-end processes to drive continuous improvement towards excellence in service delivery, improving customer satisfaction, response times and cost-effectiveness
  • Aid in the development and undertaking of people projects
  • Design, develop and implement people solutions that address actions emanating from insights, either to mitigate critical risk or capitalise on opportunity using a broad awareness of organisational knowledge
  • Proactively assess and review the impact of people solutions developed (including equity analysis) staying alert to changes in context and making appropriate corrections
  • Work in conjunction with People and OD colleagues to translate any learning from complaints into service developments
  • Work closely with People & OD colleagues to deliver departmental objectives and deploy their skills for the benefit of the team
  • Attend, contribute to and support team meetings as required and where relevant to contribute to the development of the wider People & OD team
  • Treat colleagues, members, customers and others with respect in line with our values and Our Respect Charter

  • Undertake any other duties as requested in line with the job role

Skills for the role of People Policy and Projects Partner

  • In-depth knowledge of contemporary HR practices, processes and policies and detailed working knowledge of employment legislation
  • Will hold project management certification or training (e.g. Project Management Professional - PMP/APM) during the implementation phase
  • Must have an excellent working knowledge of data protection legislation concerning employee, worker and job applicant data
  • Ideally be a CIPD member with a level 7 HR Qualification
  • The ability to travel, with occasional overnight stays as required
  • Be an HR generalist at an advisory level or above, including advising on employment relations cases
  • Experience in communicating HR practice and policy information to managers and staff
  • Experience in carrying out thorough equality impact assessments
  • Effective management of stakeholders
  • Experience of working within the HR function of a unionised, multi-site organisation
  • Experience in delivering reward-related policies and activities
  • Build and maintain productive working relationships both internally and externally, able to negotiate, influence, challenge and give constructive feedback
  • Proactively identify new ways of working to increase efficiency and/or improve the employee experience
  • Have an understanding of and commitment to promoting equity, diversity and inclusion
  • Experience in implementing HR and Finance systems or similar
  • Experience in conducting thorough change management impact assessments to understand how the new system will affect various aspects of the Group
