Experienced SEN Teaching Assistant - Secondary SEN School

Are you an experienced support professional with a background in youth work, residential care, or SEN settings? Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of teenagers with complex additional needs?

We're looking for a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a highly supportive secondary SEN school in Ossett, working with pupils aged 13 to 18 with a variety of needs, including autism, ADHD, and social, emotional and mental health challenges (SEMH).

This is a long-term, full-time role ideally suited to someone who thrives in high-impact environments and has real-life experience supporting young people with SEN.

**Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent, 1:1 and small group support to pupils aged 13-18
  • Assist in classroom learning, emotional regulation, and behaviour support
  • Use trauma-informed approaches and person-centred strategies
  • Work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and SENCOs
  • Contribute to a safe, structured, and encouraging school environment

**What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience is essential: in youth work, residential care, or secondary SEN support
  • Confident supporting children and young people with SEMH, autism, and complex needs
  • Calm, resilient, and able to de-escalate challenging behaviour professionally
  • Available to work Monday to Friday, term-time only
  • Enhanced DBS or willingness to apply for one
