Senior Financial Analyst

Our client, a market leading international group, is, due to continued growth and strategic business plans, looking to recruit a Senior Financial Analyst to report in to the Finance Director, work closely with the Financial Controller and Regional Finance Management, and take ownership of the production of group KPI, Budgeting and Forecasting and provide analysis on monthly results.

Your new role
The Senior Financial Analyst will be" hands on" and take responsibility for the preparation of and collation of accurate and meaningful data and the ongoing development of forecast models whilst utilising the group's consolidation system as well as providing analysis on monthly results.Budgeting and forecasting

  • Analyse budget submissions from territories, working with controllers to understand the key points.
  • Prepare consolidated reports of financials and associated commentary.
  • Develop the budget template to improve the accuracy of budgeting and forecasting information.
  • Provide advice and guidance to controllers as required to assist in the accurate preparation of budgets;
  • Consolidate budgets and oversee Cognos reporting;
  • Preparation of ad-hoc and long-term forecasts as needed.

Monthly reporting

  • Analysis and interrogation of monthly results prepared by the territories including P&L, balance sheet and cash flows;
  • Consolidation of monthly forecast data, providing commentary and analysis for inclusion in the monthly board pack.
  • Consolidate commentary and narrative for group reports.

Other periodic and ad hoc reporting

  • Preparation and review of data for key shareholders;
  • Preparation of reports for third parties, including banks and credit agencies;
  • Analyse weekly debt reports against budget and forecast understanding reasons for key variances;

Process improvement

  • Work with financial controllers and internal audit to improve the accuracy and consistency of reporting across the group;
  • Hands-on approach to analysing data and driving through operational improvements;
  • Develop new functionality in the Cognos reporting system and streamline the process for ad-hoc reporting;
  • Work with territories to understand key business drivers and opportunities for improvement by implementing best practice.

What you'll need to succeed
The Senior Financial Analyst will be a Qualified/Part Qualified/Qualified By Experience Accountant.
This is a "hands on" role, so the successful candidate will need to have excellent IT skills, the ability to collate and manipulate data, have a good understanding of consolidation systems such as Cognos, TM1, Crystal, Hyperion. They will be experienced in the preparation, review and analysis of budgets and forecasts and detailed knowledge of key business drivers impacting P&L, cash flows and balance sheets.
The Senior Financial Analyst will also be a central point of contact for financial controllers across the group, providing expert assistance and guidance as necessary.
Key Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong Excel skills;
  • Good Microsoft Office and all-round IT skills;
  • Cognos experience, or similar consolidation system, is beneficial;
  • Experience of preparing presentations using PowerPoint and Word and utilisation of charts and graphs to aid understanding;
  • Commercial and analytical skills;
  • Strong management skills and able to work alongside experienced members of the team and ensure reporting deadlines are met;
  • Good understanding of financial forecasting, budgeting and key drivers for P&L, balance sheet and cash flows;
  • Can have an attitude and ability to adapt quickly;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Driven to provide continuous improvement.

A highly competitive salary in the range of £50,000 to £65,000 (dependent upon experience)
