Content Designer

Reed Marketing and Creative are working with a national brand who are currently looking for a Content Designer to join their User Experience team. This role is crucial in creating, evaluating, editing, and updating content to support the delivery of their products and services. The ideal candidate will be a confident editor, adept at writing and reviewing content, and using multimedia to ensure information is accessible and user-friendly. Please note that this is a fixed term contract of 14 months from September.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Work independently or within agile delivery teams to create content that meets user needs and simplifies complex information.
  • Use evidence, data, and research to evaluate and update content throughout the user journey.
  • Write in plain English, ensuring content is understandable to different audiences and meets accessibility standards.
  • Contribute to style guidelines and content patterns, maintaining tone of voice and consistency.
  • Focus on outcomes and the impact of content on end-users, contributing to the creation of success measures.
  • Collaborate with agile teams to create and promote content for digital products, applying an agile mindset.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, tailoring communication to suit the audience.
  • Present content and insights to stakeholders, teams, and users to inform decision-making.
  • Engage with the Communications team and contribute to the cross-government content community.
  • Use various tools and platforms to plan and manage workloads.
  • Contribute to content strategies and policies, communicating them within the team.
  • Champion user-centred design practices and represent the user in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Be an active member of the UX practice, promoting a user-centred culture across the organisation.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Content Designer or in a similar role.
  • Strong editing and writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise content.
  • Experience with multimedia content creation.
  • Familiarity with user-centred design principles and agile methodologies.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Knowledge of style guidelines, content patterns, and accessibility requirements.
  • Proficiency in using a range of tools and platforms for content management.
