Operations Manager

You will be working for a large logistics company with a global footprint, with multiple sites across the world and the UK. This is a large company who are experts in their field.
Your new role
You will work as an Operations Manager where your main area of responsibility is the management of all operational activities on site. This includes but is not limited to prompt receipt, inspection, storage, handling and despatch of all items, ensuring total accuracy and quality at all times. You will aim to ensure all operations are conducted safely and in line with the latest working instructions and documentation.
Your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Managing the workload across the operation and reporting to the General Manager in the event of needing extra resources or overtime.
  • Continuously develop a highly motivated workforce
  • Communicate with the Process Managers to ensure accurate functioning of all departments, and the moving of resources to achieve the overall goals of the business where departmental workloads allow.
  • Hold daily meetings with the team to communicate work levels and solve any issues that may be raised
  • Manage the receipt, handling, storage, inspection and despatch of all customers' assets and all associated tasks in line with the agreed contract.
  • Carry out effective planning of workload/volumes and best utilise the labour resource to meet the customer's expectations.
  • Direct and motivate the team to maintain and improve the production process and associated administrative systems.
  • Ensure the efficient utilisation of all other resources including space, machinery/equipment and materials whilst continually looking to improve productivity.
  • Discuss productivity and performance figures monthly with the team in order to assess, review and improve individual and team performance.
  • Ensure a yearly stock check is carried out.
  • Take the responsibility for safe-keeping, delivery and accounting for customers' goods. Provide a professional responsive service for information to customers.
  • Ensure good housekeeping practices throughout the working area and the support centre as a whole.
  • Provide an excellent customer service relationship with the customer in terms of quality and response.
  • Daily reports - collating operational information to report in the management briefing.
  • Attend daily management meetings to provide details on the previous day's performance, highlight any issues, discuss resources etc.
  • Recruit and induct new starters into the business using the agreed induction process
