Accounts Payable Assistant

A well-known government institution is seeking a highly motivated Accounts Payable Assistant to join their dynamic team in their London Office on a permanent basis. In this role, you'll play a vital role in taking responsibility for the AP process for the overseas entities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process supplier invoices, expenses and credit notes in a timely and accurate manner
  • Update invoice tracker for Overseas companies
  • Maintain meticulous records for all accounts payable transactions.
  • Ensure adherence to all government financial regulations and internal control procedures.
  • Calculate withholding tax (WHT) on invoices
  • Supplier account reconciliations - reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies or issues.
  • Weekly payment runs, ensuring payments are loaded into the online banking portals

  • Book payments made outside of payment run - tax payments, salaries, FX payments for subs, inter-company advisory fees.

Personal Specifications/qualifications

  • Proven experience in Accounts Payable
  • Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable principles and procedures
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to accurately process large volumes of queries
  • Strong organisational and time management skills to meet deadlines
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of debits, credits, and general book-keeping
  • Working experience or knowledge of WHT
  • Multi-Currency and multi-business unit exposure
  • AAT qualified as a minimum

The successful candidate will need to develop successful working relationships with finance and non-finance colleagues across the company's overseas network.
