Community Development Worker
Location: Worksop
Type: Temporary until 31st July 2025- 30 Hours Per Week
Salary: £26,352 (£21,366.48 pro-rata) per annum
We're looking for a dedicated Community Development Worker to join a dynamic team, fostering growth and collaboration in a college and education environment. This role involves engaging with community members, facilitating development programs, and providing resources to support local projects and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build strong relationships with community members, identifying needs and supporting relevant programs.
- Develop and implement projects aimed at community improvement, such as youth programs, workshops, and skill-building events.
- Act as a liaison between the college, local organisations, government agencies, and the community, advocating for resources and support.
- Organise and attend community meetings, promoting engagement and participation in development projects.
- Gather feedback from community members, assessing program effectiveness and making adjustments as needed.
- Prepare reports and maintain accurate records of community activities, ensuring program transparency.
- Promote awareness of community resources, helping residents access relevant services and support networks.
Experience and Skills:
- Previous experience in community work or a similar role within social services or outreach (essential).
- Strong understanding of community development principles and local government services (highly desirable).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse groups and build trust within the community.
- Proven organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with program planning and implementation.
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Relevant qualification in Social Work, Community Development, or related field (desirable).
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, showing initiative and resourcefulness.
- Strong problem-solving skills and flexibility in adapting to community needs.
- Proficiency in basic IT and administrative skills, including report writing and maintaining records.
- A positive attitude and commitment to empowering communities through sustainable growth.
