Role: Governance and Parliamentary Correspondence Lead
Day Rate: £500 Inside IR35
Duration: 7 months

Location: Hybrid (3 days on site - London)

This is an exciting opportunity to build and develop a new governance pathway and support the effective governance of the government's digital priorities as they related to national missions.

Governance

You are responsible for effective governance flows on a range of boards across government. You will work closely with teams to ensure papers are framed for the right audience, and decisions and steers are being taken at the right time to support the digital transformation of government.

Parliamentary

Communicating effectively with Ministers and Parliament.

  • Overseeing the coordination of parliamentary business, ensuring high quality answers are delivered within timescales for PQs, FoIs, and Ministerial and Parliamentary Correspondence.
  • Oversee and coordinate cross cutting briefings to ministers and senior officials
  • Build the capability of your team, so that they can provide high quality responses to Senior Officials, Ministers and Parliament.
  • Monitor and continually improve processes and structures to support the effective management of parliamentary business.
  • Continuously improve ways to manage the knowledge base of priorities and published narrative to ensure consistency and ease of access for the wider organisation

Wider team and leadership

  • This role involves leadership of the Governance and Parliamentary team but will be a visible leader across the team and organisation.
  • You will be expected to provide strategic advice and support and Chair on Governance and Parliamentary subjects.
  • You will be expected to lead your team to provide a high quality service to senior leadership, embody excellence in your line management and role model our values.

Required skills:

  • Proven ability to engage credibly and confidently with senior stakeholders, including through written and oral briefings
  • Ability to lead a team to deliver high quality work, supporting individual needs and actively creating an inclusive environment where the wider team is able to deliver effectively
  • Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions. This could include experience of supporting with strategic and/or policy-based issues
  • Ability to drive progress across multiple, competing priorities
  • Sound judgement and the ability to think laterally in order to make connections between different areas of work within the department that others may have missed
  • Knowledge of parliament and parliamentary procedure
  • Proven experience in designing and running effective governance fora.
