English Teacher Needed for SEMH School in Haywards Heath
We are working with a fantastic provision in Haywards Heath who are looking for the right individual to join their team. This school is looking for a creative English teacher committed to improving the exam results, progress, and engagement of pupils. If you're ready for a new challenge, we'd love to hear from you.
This is a mixed independent school for children aged 9 -18 who have a range of special needs including SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) needs, Autistic Spectrum Conditions, ADHD, Dyslexia or a range of cognitive and processing needs.
Applications for the position are welcome from candidates of ranging experience, although previous experience working with students with SEMH is preferable. Experience working with children with challenging behaviour is important and a strong sense of behaviour management is key.
Experience of teaching Key Stage 4, including planning, delivering and assessing bespoke creative teaching programmes within the expectations of the National Curriculum is essential.
Due to the location of the school, the ideal candidate will need to be a driver with access to their own vehicle, as there are no public transport routes.

- You would be in the one School ASAP, Full time.
- Working with students who have challenging behaviour, attachment and trauma.
- This is a setting where having a calm, nurturing and empathetic nature is key
- Some experience within SEND / SEMH preferable not necessity
- Passionate about supporting students and their social and emotional journey
- Would accept ECT's
What do I need?
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Flexibility, enthusiasm and motivation to deliver great lessons
- Understanding of SEMH
- Understanding of Secondary Curriculum
- Behaviour management skills
- An ability to adhere to and implement schools' various policies
