Team Leader Senior Property Lawyer

Salary: £49,498.00 to £53,578.00
Location: Bedford (Hybrid, minimum 2 days per week in Bedford)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Our client, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Team Leader Senior Property Lawyer to join their Legal Services team. This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of two days per week in Bedford.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Manage and supervise a team of 4 colleagues, ensuring effective workload allocation and professional development.
  • Legal Expertise: Provide advice and manage complex and high-profile property matters related to the Council's property portfolio, including development projects, landlord and tenant law, disposals, acquisitions, and high-level commercial conveyancing.
  • Strategic Support: Assist the Service Manager in delivering a high-quality legal service to the Council and its various service areas.
  • Caseload Management: Handle a senior-level caseload of property matters, ensuring timely, accurate, and high-quality legal advice.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Admitted Solicitor or Barrister (England and Wales) with a current Practising Certificate, or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.
  • Experience: Substantial post-qualification experience as a public sector lawyer or equivalent experience and skills in the private sector, particularly in Commercial Property Law.
  • Managerial Experience: Proven track record of managing staff and leading teams.
  • Skills: Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and provide clear and accurate legal advice.
  • IT Proficiency: Competence in legal software and IT systems to ensure care and accuracy in handling legal information

Desirable Attributes:

  • Experience working with Lexcel or similar quality assurance systems.
  • Ability to undertake legal research and provide strategic advice on property law.
  • Commitment to excellence in public services, with high personal standards of integrity and teamwork.
