Assistant Financial Accountant

Orka Financial is currently recruiting for an Assistant Financial Accountant to join the UK division of an international group. Reporting to the UK Finance Manager, the role will support a range of controllership activities including month end close activity, financial reporting into Hyperion, balance sheet account reconciliations. The role provides the key accounting support, working with a single or range of entities ensuring that all of the department's responsibilities are delivered efficiently and effectively.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for a wide range of month-end close activity ensuring business unit reporting in Hyperion (HFM) is delivered on time and to P&E policies.
  • Preparation of balance sheet prepayments, accruals and provision calculation and journals
  • Ensure the reported accounts are fully understood, correct and compliant
  • Prepare and review a range of complex account reconciliations including VAT, WIP, POC and Payroll.
  • Support the finance team including processing and recording transactions and preparing reports
  • Support internal management reporting activities
  • Support team in providing data for external audits
  • Prepare or support preparation of Intrastat and VAT returns where applicable

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Good understanding of financial accounting and reporting
  • Good understanding of accounting concepts and balance sheet compliance
  • Comfortable with a changing, fast paced environment
  • Good understanding of SAP
  • High level of IT literacy with advanced MS Excel skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy; process driven and control-focused
  • Teamwork oriented with the ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to develop, progress and implement continuous improvement
  • Confident communication skills both written and verbal; strong interpersonal skills
  • Can meet commitments with the highest standards of ethics and integrity

Education and Experience

  • AAT or QBE or part-qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA
  • Experience in Finance within a manufacturing environment is highly desirable
  • Experience using SAP are an advantage
  • Demonstrated financial and commercial awareness

This role is 3 days a week in the Newbury office and 2 days remotely.
