About the job:
Our client currently requires a Principal Electronics Engineer responsible for design and development of electronics for instrumentation and acoustics applications. The role will include;
Team leadership
- Providing support to the Director of Engineering to co-ordinate Electronics Engineering projects and tasks.
- Provide guidance to staff to ensure the engineering team completes project assignments on time and within budgets.
- Mentoring and developing Engineering team.
- Participating in risk assessments and mitigating activities.
- Providing design reviews and giving technical recommendations.
- Participating in technical audits and ensuring recommendations are implemented.
- Developing and providing technical standards and guidance in all software design and development.
- Provide technical support to Sales and Manufacturing departments.
Technical
- Mixed signal design including pre-amplifiers, filters, power supplies, interfacing, and analogue-digital conversion for precision instrumentation applications.
- Microcontroller-based circuit design.
- You will be expected to work independently or as a member of a team contributing to all aspects of the product development cycle from requirement analysis through design & development into production.
- You will be expected to produce design documentation and test specifications.
About you:
As a Principal Electronics Engineer your skills and qualifications will include:
- BSc/BEng or equivalent experience in Engineering or similar
- Expertise in analogue and digital circuit design preferably in an instrumentation development environment.
- Some experience or knowledge of microcontroller-based circuit design and embedded software essential.
- Some experience or knowledge of FPGA based circuit design is desirable.
- IPC trained (training can be provided)
- OrCAD design software or experience with similar tools.
It will be helpful to have knowledge of:
- Basic Analog components / circuits
- Operational Amplifier circuits
- Power supply technology
- Circuit analysis, modelling, and theory
- Analog-Digital Conversion
- Interfacing and IO (e.g. I2C and SPI bus)
- CAD Schematic layout
- CAD PCB design
- Fault finding
- Assembler and/or embedded ‘C'
- Use of PAL/FPGA technologies.
- Linux and other OS
