Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking a Maths Teacher for a recently Ofsted graded 'Good' alternative provision setting in the Preston area, commencing from September 2024.

The school require a Maths Teacher who is QTS qualified to teach Maths across Key Stage 3 and 4, and the ideal candidate will have experience teaching pupils with social, emotional and mental health difficulties in an alternative provision or PRU setting.

This Maths Teacher role will involve teaching Maths up to GCSE, GCSE Foundation Level and also Functional Skills level, and class sizes will be up to around 10 pupils, with several support staff in each classroom too.

The successful candidate will demonstrate resilience, patience and an ability to strike up rapport and develop relationships with SEMH pupils. Pupils arrive at the school having struggled to access learning in their previous school/s, and clear routines and therapies are implemented in school to help engage students.

Due to the nature of the setting and attainment and attendance level of pupils, in comparison to a mainstream teaching role there will be a relatively lower level of planning and assessment/ marking.

Rates in line with MPS of £153.89 - £211.93 are available - with the school looking to take a teacher on through an initial long term, temporary period, with a view to subsequently offering a permanent contract to the right candidate.

If a permanent role was successfully achieved, the candidate would also have additional SEN allowance attached on top of their salary, with optional TLRs available too.

  • Hold QTS status or an equivalent teaching qualification.

  • Ensure your CV covers all employment and education since leaving secondary school.
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK.
