Our client is looking for a Corporation Tax Senior / Tax Assistant Manager, the same role at different levels of seniority. The title which you will be hired under is dependent on experience.

Tax Senior: You will work with the team to ensure timely and accurate delivery of tax services.

Tax Assistant Manager: You will help manage the team ensure timely and accurate delivery of tax services.

Key Responsibilities as Corporation Tax Senior / Tax Assistant Manager:

  • Assist the Tax Manager(s) in ensuring that the tax department admin is kept up to date and routine admin is dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Assist the Tax Manager(s) on any processes and projects whilst developing an involvement in supervision and training of the team.
  • Work with the Accounts team and Tax Manager(s) to facilitate the review of complex corporate tax returns.
  • Help deliver R&D tax savings to clients and assist in building up this area of the business.
  • Able to produce more complicated letters for clients and to communicate advanced technical advice to clients and colleagues.
  • Billing and WIP Management and understanding of its importance within the firm.
  • Manage and service clients in own portfolio including maintaining client relationships and attending client meetings.
  • Assist with/control workflow and manage filing deadlines and payment dates.
  • Identify tax planning and cross-selling opportunities to pass on or deal with directly.
  • Support the Tax Manager(s) in the first instance and the wider senior tax team, including Senior Tax Manager(s) and Tax Director(s).
  • Ensure professional knowledge is technically up to date by attending the necessary courses and webinars.
  • Have professional/ethics awareness.
  • Liaise and communicate with other departments, clients, and directors.
  • Support the non-Tax Managers and Directors.
  • Maintain point of contact as job manager, liaising with clients to ensure completion of assignments is in line with planned timescales.
  • Take ownership of appropriate assignments maintaining quality of work whilst organising and managing time efficiently and effectively.
  • Manage own client budgets, keeping the Tax Manager informed of progress and potential problems, including actual vs. budget.
  • Plan time effectively and complete time sheets by the required deadline.
  • Undertake CPD in accordance the clients' requirements and maintain an up-to-date CPD record.
  • Ensure technical knowledge is up to date and seek expert advice when required.
  • Able to provide feedback on performance and development.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience in handling corporation tax, particularly concerning R&D.
  • Qualified ATT and/or CTA - minimum 4 years relevant tax experience
  • No ATT Qualification - minimum 8 years relevant tax experience
  • Experience with share options/incentives and Venture Capital Schemes (investor reliefs) such as Seed/Enterprise Investment Scheme (S/EIS) is highly desirable.
  • Basic understanding of inheritance tax and VAT.
  • Good understanding of income tax, capital gains tax, national insurance & PAYE, pension planning, corporation tax and business tax.
  • Able to deal with HMRC tax enquiries with the Tax Manager's supervision.
  • Willing to embrace change and new ideas.

  • Maintain high professional standards of conduct and practice.
