About the Role

Base Location: Glasgow or Perth

Salary: £47,600 - £71,600 + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Manager to join the Renewables Financial Control team based in Glasgow or Perth. In this role, you'll be responsible for both financial reporting and technical accounting, and you'll also lead on technical accounting support for the Renewables Finance team within SSE. You will manage and motivate a team, ensuring the accurate and timely execution of all aspects of general accounting, period end closing and statutory reporting activities for your area.

The reporting element of this role will cover oversight of our operational offshore Joint Venture assets. The technical element of this role involves providing technical accounting support for Renewables through M&A activities, as well as providing technical accounting guidance and review for the year end and half year audit processes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing all aspects of the month end and year end reporting process for the offshore operational JVs, along with managing and developing a team of experienced finance professionals.
  • Responsibility for the review and delivery of accurate reporting information to key stakeholders including the business partnering team and group finance.
  • Leading support for technical accounting within the SSE Renewables division including M&A activity.
  • Responsibility for the preparation of IFRS statutory accounts, as well as preparation and review of technical accounting papers under IFRS for the year end and half year audit process.
  • Responsibility for compliance with the Group financial control and accounting policies.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Qualified Accountant (ICAS, ACCA, ACA, CIMA) with strong working knowledge of IFRS & FRS 101.
  • A keen eye for detail and clear understanding of financial controls and with a strong understanding of technical accounting areas relevant to Renewables.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/processes simultaneously whilst maintaining high standards.
  • Flexibility to respond positively and accurately to key stakeholder requests, being proactive and inquisitive with a passion for delivering change.
  • Experience of leading or coaching a team is preferred, but not essential.
