Senior Buyer

Management Responsibility: Buyers
Key importance: We need someone with experience in subcontract tenders, negotiation and drafting especially anyone with NEC experience.
Key Skills and qualifications:
- Ideally previous experience on a construction project, however this is not essential.
- Industry-related qualifications are desirable and/or CIPS or equivalent.
- Knowledge of Supply chain principles, procedures and methods.
- Proven analytical, problem solving and organisational skills.
- Competent in supplier selection and evaluation.
- Excellent verbal communication, negotiation and engagement skills.
- Ability to manage diverse internal and external stakeholder parties to achieve successful project outcomes.

- Procurement & Supply Chain Management Team.
- Site Operatives.
- Internal and external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
- Supporting the Procurement Manager for a section of works managing the tender, award and recommendation of works packages and orders.
- To act as the face of the client and ensure that all communication/negotiations/interactions with the supply chain are carried out in the spirit of our values and Procurement & Supply Chain vision.
- To carry out procurement to the highest ethical standard at all times.
- Ensuring that procurement exercises are made against value- based procurement decisions, as opposed to purely lowest cost.
- To ensure that internal stakeholders are engaged in the process throughout and endorse any recommendations.
- To prepare and deliver internal presentations to key stakeholders articulating package strategies and award recommendations.
- Possession of excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Excellent written skills and capable of drafting formal contract documents.
- Interfacing with internal and external stakeholders.
- Providing procurement support as directed by the Procurement Manager.
- Assisting in and supervising the Procurement of goods and services activities as directed by the Procurement Manager.
- Administering basic supplier contracts.
- Assisting in the implementation of supplier contracts.
- Liaising with the Procurement Manager in areas of commercial operations.
- Assisting in the development of internal procedures and documents.
- Helping to drive better procurement practice across the client and communicating opportunities to achieve a better value for money.
