Penguin Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a renowned Planning and Environmental consultancy who specialise in renewable energy, waste, industrial and commercial projects. Due to expansion, my client is looking for experienced Town Planners to joining their Planning team in Stoke on Trent. Established for over 100 years, this company offers a broad range of services including environmental impact assessments, engineering design, and planning. They cater to sectors such as mining, energy , and infrastructure, and property development. As a company, they are known or their expertise in sustainable development, helping clients manage environmental risks and comply with regulatory requirements while delivering complex projects.

The Role:

As a Town Planner, you will have the freedom to work remotely as part of the Planning team. Overall, the team includes town planners, urban designers, and specialists in the areas such as heritage and landscape.

This is the perfect role for Town Planners who are working towards a Chartered Status as my client offer support to staff working towards Chartered Status. They also pay a chartership reward on successful attainment of professional registration with an approved chartered organisation .

Your responsibilities include:

Providing advice and guidance on planning and environmental matters to a variety of clients including leading renewable energy developers, utility and infrastructure companies, waste management operators, house builders, land promoters, investment institutions, and others throughout all stages of the planning process. Moreover you will be shaping and assessing the case for development projects, including: determining planning strategies site appraisals. Further responsibilities as a Town Planner include, handling the pre- application consultation, preparing planning applications and appeals.

The role will require working on a number of projects, so a proven ability to manage your own time and workload within tight timescales, and ability to problem solve is essential.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • An RTPI accredited degree in Planning.
  • Experience working on medium to large scale planning projects.
  • Technical competency.
  • An analytical mindset.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and writing skills.
