Job Title: Support Worker/Senior Support Worker - Children's Home

Location: Manchester area (Oldham)

Position Type: Full-time, Permanent

Shifts: 24 hour shifts

  • 10am - 11pm
  • Sleep from 11pm - 7am
  • 7am - 10.30am

Salary: Between £12 - £15 per hour

Sleeps: £60

Job Description:

As a Support Worker in our client's Children's Home, you will play a pivotal role in providing compassionate care and support to children and young people. While experience in EBD is desirable, it is not essential as comprehensive training will be provided. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Care and Support: Providing physical and emotional support to children and young people in a residential setting, ensuring their safety, well-being, and comfort at all times.
  • Personal Care: Assisting with personal hygiene, dressing, feeding, and any other activities of daily living as required, while promoting independence and dignity.
  • Behaviour Management: Implementing strategies to manage challenging behaviours effectively and de-escalate situations when necessary, in line with the home's policies and procedures.
  • Engagement and Activities: Planning and facilitating age-appropriate activities, outings, and educational sessions to promote social interaction, learning, and development.
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records and documentation, including daily logs, incident reports, and care plans, to ensure continuity of care and communication between shifts.
  • Team Collaboration: Working collaboratively with colleagues, including senior staff, healthcare professionals, and external agencies, to provide holistic and person-centred care for each resident.

Requirements:

  • Possess a Level 3 in residential childcare or an equivalent
  • Compassionate and empathetic nature, with a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of children and young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with residents and colleagues.
  • Flexibility to work 24 hour shifts, including weekends and bank holidays, as per the home's rota system.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively manage challenging situations with professionalism and sensitivity.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and development, including completing mandatory training and obtaining relevant qualifications in health and social care (if not already held).
