SHEQ Manager

IBP are currently recruiting a SHEQ Manager to manage the delivery and maintenance of a positive Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) culture throughout the service connections workforce.

As the SHEQ Manager you will be instilling and promoting a right first-time approach to service connections quality and ensuring a leadership role is applied where non-conformity is identified to achieve continuous improvement. Promote good environmental practice across the operations, continually looking to develop and introduce sustainable processes and behaviours across the supply chain and fibre build activities.

The main duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manage the framework that promotes and encourages an organisational culture that champions an incident free environment.
  • Monitor, evaluate and review existing, new, and upcoming safety, health and environmental legislation.
  • Implement the business management system and applicable processes to improve safety, health, environmental and quality performance.
  • Identify and report any gaps in documentation, competence, and systems.
  • Complete and maintain the business, contract and workstream risk register(s).
  • Implement the published annual SHEQ business specific ‘Targets and Objectives' to ensure continual improvement.
  • Facilitate and participate in external audits / verification of company accreditations.
  • Facilitate and participate in applications for external awards collating and storing relevant evidence throughout the year.
  • Effective management and responsibility of SHEQ Advisors and SHEQ Co-ordinators and proactively support their professional development against the industry recognised competency framework (e.g., IOSH).
  • Undertake quarterly 1-2-1 reviews across your team.
  • Analyse and trend root causes and non-conformities adopting corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Produce SHEQ performance reports as required by both clients, divisional and group functions and present at meetings as required.
  • Manage the capture and reporting of Scope 1,2 and 3 Carbon emissions for onward reporting into the Head of SHEQ and division functions.
  • Manage, capture and collate waste management data derived from sub-contractor organisations for 2nd party assurance (chain of custody).
  • Ensure effective management of Occupational Road Risk and progress driver behaviour to reduce at-fault traffic collisions and unreported vehicle damage.
  • Ensure that incident investigations are to an exemplary standard and act as lead investigator were required.
  • Deliver effective management of health surveillance requirements (e.g., HAVS, Climbers Medical, Face-Fit Testing of RPE, Pre-employment screening, Drugs and Alcohol Testing etc.)
  • Support the group supply chain control team by managing the completion, submission and sign-off of all sub-contractor SHEQ evaluations to ensure that they progress efficiently

The Ideal candidate must possess the following skills and experience:

  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (or equivalent) Working towards NEBOSH Diploma.
  • Certified Member IOSH (Cert IOSH) or working towards, ideally working towards Chartered Membership (CMIOSH), or equivalent professional body grades.
  • Up to date CPD.
  • Experience of maintaining or reaching externally audited management standards including ISO 45001, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001. Along with but not limited to Achilles, Carbon Reduce, NICEIC, Safe Contractor, FIRAS etc.
  • Recent proven experience of working in a SHEQ management position.
  • Knowledge and experience within telecoms including PIA, Poling, working at height and service connections
  • Ability to use work management systems, Microsoft Office 365 applications, produce reports, analyse data, and implement strategies/ action plans.
