Work Experience Officer - Construction

Full Time: 37 hours per week

Permanent: Term Time Only

Salary - Up to 24k (uplift negotiable for the right applicant)

The role:

The Work Experience Officer will be responsible for coordinating apprenticeships, work placements, and other experiential learning opportunities for students. The position is based across a construction department, so you will need some understanding or experience of the trades. You will be collaborating with employers old and new, to secure placements, guide students in finding suitable roles related to their field of study, and provide support throughout the placement process. Your goal is to enhance students' employability by ensuring they gain practical experience that complements their academic education. The role will offer a 3 months buddying up system, where you will work closely with the current post holder whilst undergoing training.

Duties of the position:

  • Attend networking and employer events
  • To plan and create opportunities for students to practice and develop their technical and employability skills (including English, maths and digital skills)
  • To ensure that all students undertake significant and meaningful employer activity including skills competitions, employer events, guest speakers and industry defined projects, work experience and placements
  • To seek and develop effective business relationships to ensure meaningful employer involvement in all aspects of the curriculum, in liaison with EPNE employer engagement
  • To ensure all students are work-ready and have the workplace skills to match their career aspirations.
  • To plan an innovative approach in the creation of individual and group led activities across the curriculum to ensure progress in all elements of their programme (including English & maths, technical subject area and work placement)

What you need:

  • A driving license and car is essential as you will travel across the district meeting with multiple employers
  • A sales background in some capacity would be an advantage
  • Great people skills
  • Confidence and ability to speak with conviction
  • You must be able to network with others, building new relationships between the training provider and new employers
  • You must hold a qualification in a construction or building services based vocational course
