Production Engineer

Interesting and challenging opportunity within this large successful aerospace manufacturing company. The role is within the Planning & Engineering Department. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing Manufacturing Planning Instructions for a diverse range of aircraft components, focusing on both military and commercial applications. This role demands a thorough understanding of sheet metal fabrication and CNC machining processes to effectively translate customer requirements into detailed manufacturing plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meticulously review contracts for all new and repeat orders to ensure alignment with technical and quality specifications.
  • Accurately interpret engineering drawings and specifications into practical manufacturing instructions.
  • Diligently maintain all related documentation in compliance with our Quality Management System.
  • Develop comprehensive bills of materials and routings for intricate assemblies.
  • Strategically plan and outline manufacturing operations to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Generate internal route cards to facilitate seamless production work-flows.
  • Execute requisitions for materials and procure necessary tooling and equipment.
  • Foster effective communication with customers and internal teams to address engineering queries.
  • Offer robust support to the Engineering Manager, contributing to strategic engineering decisions.
  • Select and apply the most suitable engineering techniques for each project phase.
  • Continuously improve planning sheets based on feedback and identified issues.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and operators to refine manufacturing methods and achieve optimal results.
  • Engage with Customer Manufacturing Engineers/Design Engineers to resolve technical and manufacturing challenges promptly.
  • Assist in the resolution of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCAs).
  • Provide essential support for engineering-related matters during the production phase.

Candidate Profile:

  • A degree in engineering would be advantageous but relevant experience a priority.
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing setting, aerospace/aviation sector experience is highly desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and/or CNC machining techniques.
  • Exceptional planning and organisational capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex engineering concepts clearly.
  • A results-driven individual with a track record of achieving project goals.
