Our client is a global manufacturing company based in Preston.

Description

Design, implement and embed a Manufacturing Engineering Function within a Line of Business which: enables the manufacture of new or an updated product to meet the design intent, cost, schedule and quality commitments in the most effective, efficient & economic way possible

Responsible for the strategic development, engineering excellence and maintenance of the Line of Business Manufacturing Engineering discipline, covering the development and sustainment of professional standards for engineering resource, processes and toolsets and manufacturing technologies

Responsibilities:

  • Engineering design is in line with Manufacturing capability
  • Manufacturing capability & technology is of required capability to meet design requirement
  • Design intent met
  • Programme cost, schedule and quality commitments are met through manufacturing engineering deliverables
  • Manufacturing Engineering methods and controls are at a level that is compatible with our peoples qualification and experience
  • Support build line and continuous improvements
  • Experienced leader within one or multiple sectors
  • Successful delivery in a Programme Delivery/ or Engineering/ Manufacturing functional role on a major programme
  • Ability to influence directly and indirectly to achieve the required business outcomes
  • Effective decision maker who operates with pace and a delivery mindse

Profile

  • Thorough and comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of Manufacturing Engineering disciplines, processes, toolsets, procedures, standards and technologies.
  • Broad knowledge of Manufacturing operations, including quality management, facility management, supplier management, research and development, production operations and logistics planning and control.
  • Depth of knowledge of a matrix organisation/ programme/ cross functional business
  • Full understanding of the IBP and financial processes and management/HR processes
  • Working knowledge of the Life Cycle Management and Operational Framework processes
  • Proven experience and credibility to gain confidence of the Engineering, Manufacturing and Procurement senior management teams.
  • Knowledge of people development requirements, core technical and behavioural competence in the function
  • Long term strategic planning and tactical thinking.
  • Practical problem solving of complex issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a diverse range of technical and leadership deliverable
  • High level of interpersonal skills and ability to communicate, influence and direct decision making at all levels
  • Educated to degree or equivalent in an Engineering discipline proven leadership experience in a manufacturing and engineering business environment.
  • Member of a recognised professional Engineering institute

Job Offer

£85,000 to £95,000 plus car / car allowance, bonus and benefits.
