A leading accountancy firm is seeking an experienced Business Services Assistant Manager to join their dynamic team. Reporting directly to the department's management team, this role is integral to the day-to-day operations and strategic planning of the department.
The role involves reviewing accounts preparation work, liaising with clients to resolve accounting issues, supervising the work of both qualified and non-qualified staff, and providing training as needed. The successful candidate will also handle their own client assignments, including management and year-end accounts preparation, as well as ad hoc financial advisory projects in coordination with other departments.
Role Overview:
What you will be doing as a Business Services Assistant Manager:
- Prepare unaudited financial statements based on clients' Management Information.
- Advise clients on best practices within their accounting systems.
- Review the work of junior staff, preparing it for client presentation.
- Support specialist financial reporting tasks as required.
- Demonstrate a solid technical understanding of compiling financial statements under UK GAAP.
- Prepare basic corporation tax computations for further review by the tax department.
- Possess working knowledge of VAT and payroll tax issues, with the ability to identify improvements and solutions in clients' records.
- Establish strong working relationships with clients and colleagues through technical competence, clear communication, and an approachable manner.
- Assist in the training and development of junior staff members.
What you'll need to succeed
- Relevant accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or international equivalent
- Experience in preparing and reviewing financial statements
- Ideally you will have supervised juniors in a previous role
- Ability to work from home as well as the office
- Experience of working on a broad client portfolio
